The Night of the Banshee by !angelles:iconangelles:

I’ve called for you my Great Banshee
To take his soul away with Thee
He’s fought You off for way too long
His mind in madness, yet his will was strong.

So many nights I heard your screams
And heard him cry out
From horrid dreams
He would not go
He cannot stay
I am handing him to You this day.

Oh Great Banshee,
My Sister bright
Come fly down and descend tonight.
I am finished with this business here
And for him I won’t shed a tear.

What happened to a daughters love?
Are angels weeping from above?
It matters not, I do not care
I hear you now, my Sister fair.

Pull him up, and fly him well
Straight into the gates of hell
Hail the Corner of the North
I hear your screams now coming forth.

Yes my Sister, my Banshee
Take this burden far from me
I am the Earth
And She is Me
As I will, So Mote It Be...

Special thanks to -mah- for allowing me to use her BEAUTIFUL painting SULLENMOOD to illustrate this poem until my Banshee painting is complete. You can find -mah-'s superb gallery at [link] and see SULLENMOOD at [link] - I know its odd for an artist to borrow another artists work till their own is complete - but Night of the Banshee is such a powerful poem in a personal way to me, I didn't want to post it without a powerful image. -mah- understood completely - and again, I THANK her with all my heart!!!

Whoa,

Nice work of art and I like the poem.... but who is this unfortunate soul that you have banned from the Earth?

This is a wonderful piece... Only you know what it means, but if I where to project "my feelings" to this work I have a good idea who you are talking about. If you feel like saying note me. I would love to share my thoughts.

Wonderful work...

-mah- gets FULL credit on the artwork! She let me borrow it till I get my Banshee painting finished. Glad you liked the poem - as for the unfortunate soul...well.... he'll just remain nameless.

I'm afraid of realizing my dreams, because I'm afraid of failing.

Ok, you're not only an amazing painter with brush, you're a phenomenal painter of words. <Bitch!>

I once heard that, "painting is silent poetry and poetry is eloquent painting." I do believe my friend that you are an artist of heart.

This is a very striking set of words...dark and strong, powerful. It's elicits night and lightening streaks of emotion. To me the subject Banshee capsulates (from one aspect) the agonizing, shrill screams of our souls when torn apart with rapture and love and obsession...powerful!! It's an instant fav my friend.

Digable Planet! Cuz I'm cool like that...I'm cool like that...

Thanks Red! You are the only person that could call me a bitch so eloquently and I'd be "all shucks" - as with all of my poetry (and MOST of my paintings) its steeped like tea with double meanings, inuindos, razor sharp gashes that slash those who know beyond a shadow of doubt (or scream) exactly who and what I am talking about. Isn't that part of what we as artists get to do? And I say "artist" in any sense of the word be it written or painted, set to music or sculped. It creates beauty for those who view it and all interperet in the way they need too. However, a wise teacher once said, "art is the ultimate 'FUCK YOU' for us - we get to say EXACTLY what we want to the world in a way that traditional statements would be deemed inappropriate. This way, we enrich AND purge at the same time." I think his words were wise. They stuck with me anyway.

I digress. However I think you know what I mean. Your words have bite to them too - they are beautiful and heartfelt and move people, but there is a CUT in them that bleeds or bleeds someone... sometimes till they run dry. Thank you for the comments. You hit the mark my friend. Very closely. And the fav is appreciated as always! Of all who read my work, you and perhaps one other understand it best. I'm so GLAD you are here on DA to share and to share with.
